acne scar treatment

acne scar treatment seemed a bit strange to me because i always thought that once you get scars that was it,you had them for ever.Well this is not always the case.If you have had a bad acne breakout recently and been left with a few scars they could take between 6-12 months to heal without any help.

To get rid of these acne scars faster what you are actually doing is speeding up the healing process of the damaged area. One thing before you even think about acne scar treatment is that your acne has to be completely gone and not come back.

Here are the acne scar treatments that i know of, starting with the best first.

1. Laser skin resurfacing

now there are a two laser categories within this laser category each one is designed to treat the various scar types. The most powerful being the Ablative laser. This laser quit literally removes the outer layer of the skin by burning away the scar tissue, this can stimulate the dermal collagen which tightens and the result of the tightening being a vastly reduced visible scar. Its this treatment that is used for the deeper scar.

The second laser treatment is called non ablative. Basically this treatment canĀ  promote collagen growth but without doing any external damage to the skin. This acne scar treatment is good for those shallow boxcar scars as well as smoothing scars that have been treated before.

Another type of treatment is punch excision. There are 3 techniques that are used.

1.Punch excersion.
Your doctor removes the pitted scar with a cookie-cutter-like tool that punches out small portions of skin. The surrounding healthy skin is joined together by suturing.

2.Punch replacement.
As with the punch excision, the scar is removed and then replaced with a skin graft of unscarred skin, usually harvested from behind the ear. This method is
usually the most successful for treating deep scars.

3.Punch elevation.
Here the scar is punched out, but not discarded. It is allowed to float up to the level of surrounding skin.

Subscising scars
Subcision helps to restructure and remodel scar tissue by breaking fibrous bands that are creating tension between the epidermis and deeper structures. It also helps induce new collagen formation. This method is useful for indented, rolling scars that result from scar tissue holding the skin down. This is a very specialized procedure that is performed by a qualified dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

Fat.

To correct deeper defects caused by scarring from nodular acne, fat transplantation uses your own fat.The fat is taken from another part of your body and injected beneath the surface of the skin to elevate depressed scars.Because the fat is reabsorbed into the skin over a period of 6 to 18 months, the procedure usually must be repeated. Also collagen can be injected under the surface but only lasts about six months.
